NORTH DUBLIN WILDCATS - WELCOME INFORMATION!
What Is Cheerleading?
Cheerleading is a unique sport which combines dance, gymnastics and acrobatics. It is a fun way to keep fit, work in a team and make new friends. Cheerleaders are role models, friends and athletes, who work hard to achieve their potential. With hard work and dedication, they promote team spirit throughout the community. Cheerleading encourages positive attitudes, healthy lifestyles and discipline. It is hoped that through this, cheerleaders will not only be successful in cheerleading, but also in life.
What Is Expected From Athletes & Their Parents?
Cheerleading requires hard work and dedication. Perseverance is also a key aspect, which enables all athletes to reach their goals. The athletes must support their team mates and their coach, whilst setting a good example for their peers.
When parents enter their children into the squad, we hope they fully understand the commitment and dedication we require. We also ask for parents and guardians to give 100% support and encourage their children in and out of the training environment. Respect for the coaches too!
What is involved if I join the North Dublin Wildcats?
First and foremost we will like to let people know that Wildcats is a competitive cheerleading squad when it comes to children over 9 years old. Like with any competitive sports team there are costs involved, such as training and tuition fees, uniforms, shoes, competition entry fees, travel and accommodation to competitions and events. This means cheerleading can be an expensive activity to join, but we do our best to give you plenty of notice, the best deals we can find and we have a parents fundraising committee in place who are constantly trying to raise money.
Commitment is needed to the team. If your child is involved in another activity that could have time conflicts with cheerleading, then we ask you to think if this can be managed effectively. We do not permit absences from sessions for any reason except being ill, educational activities and holidays (as long as we have been notified in due course.)
A TEAM CANNOT FUNCTION WITHOUT ALL ITS PLAYERS PRESENT.
6 weeks before competition we declare Red Zone - this means every single session must be attended regardless of some of the above. Exception - Contagious illnesses. If a holiday is booked in the red zone then your child will not be competing.
If a child misses 4 classes in any season (Sep - June) without reasonable explanations, we will then have no choice but to exclude the child in any upcoming competitions. After missing 2 classes, the club secretary will give you a home telephone call.
FEES ARE TO BE PAID EVERY 4 WEEKS.
